Commonwealth Athlete Visit

At Newland St John's we love PE and sport. We have recently been awarded the Sainsbury's School Games Gold award, which reflects the amount of sport we do. Our PE curriculum is varied and includes athletics, gymnastics, games, dance and inclusion sports. We take part in lots of competitions and our most recent ones include boccia, hockey, goal ball, new age kurling, football and dodge ball. We are also committed to improving our fitness by taking part in the 'Daily Mile'.

Take a look below at some of our recent sports activities.

We were very excited to be welcome James Denny to Newland St John's CE Academy.

James has represented Great Britain since he was 12 and James and his team mate, Tom Daley, have had great success including a silver medal in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

James lead a sponsored fitness circuit with all of our pupils, then followed this with a question and answer session which totally inspired our children to pursue their passions in life.

Much of the money raised from this event will be used to buy sports equipment for our school, while also supporting GB athletes.
