The programme offers an opportunity to involve pupils in decision making, and developing responsibility and leadership in relation to their learning, behaviour, attendance, school management, classroom management and induction. It is powerful in developing a positive ethos where pupils learn about how the school is run, and, in turn, understand how they themselves can contribute to the running of the school. Pupils commit to common goals and teamwork – together with each other and with staff.
To work towards achieving this, we deemed it important to fully understand how the school is run and managed. Therefore as a whole school, we looked at the different Roles and Responsibilities of the different adults in the school. We conducted interviews and created beautiful and insightful displays throughout the corridors of our school.
These later informed creating our own roles and responsibilities within our classroom and the school.
